What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Registrar - Registration and Records Management position at Stephen F. Austin University?
This is a supervisory position responsible for leading the registration and student records management functions in the Office of the Registrar. Responsible for maintaining student academic records in accordance with university policy; providing high quality customer service related to registration and records management services; and supervising registration and records management staff and student employees. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Registrar.
Essential Job Functions
1. Holds responsibility for the verification and audit of all student academic records, including verification of accuracy.
2. Conducts processing and maintenance of grades, GPAs, academic status, and other critical aspects of student academic records.
3. Provides effective customer service to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and outside constituents.
4. Administers and provides direction to the registration and records areas; supervises staff in those areas to include hiring, training, and evaluating performance.
5. Provides counseling, explores alternatives, answers questions, and resolves problems for faculty, staff, and students concerning student records.
6. Adheres to requirements of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), related policies and procedures, and all other applicable laws and regulations, which includes ensuring the confidentiality of student records as appropriate.
7. Stays informed of best practices related to areas of responsibility.

Physical Demands Required Education
Bachelor’s degree is required.
Required Experience and Training
Three years of related experience is required. Supervisory experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree is preferred. Experience in a registrar’s office or related area is preferred. Experience with the student module in Banner ERP system is preferred.

This is an IT-sensitive position subject to the Computer and Network Security policy.
This position is eligible for participation in the Optional Retirement Program (ORP), subject to the position being full-time and at least 4 ½ months in length, or the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) retirement plan, subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
