What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front Desk Receptionist position at Stephen H. Means, O.D. & Associates?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Contributes to the organization by overseeing front desk tasks and assisting with patient care. This position will assist patients in-person and over-the-phone with checking-in and out, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, processing payments, handling copays, perform basic tasks while providing exemplary customer service.
- Greet all patients and guests with compassion and respect.
- Communicate effectively with others including, but not limited to patients, guests, colleagues and physicians.
- Respond to patient's telephone inquiries in a timely and respectful manner.
- Triage incoming calls promptly.
- Provide patients with necessary instructions or directions.
- Verify insurance and determine if prior authorizations or referrals are required for upcoming appointments.
- Process patient documentation and update patient demographics with accuracy.
- Close-out daily batches promptly and with accuracy.
- Schedules follow-up appointments and verifies appointment times with patients.
- Provide patient(s) with an explanation of insurance benefits as needed.
- Record and maintain patient records / files in compliance with company, federal, and state policies (HIPAA)
- Maintain a clean and organized waiting room and work area.
- Must meet and adhere to office policies and procedures, uphold the highest ethical principles and patient confidentiality. Complies with all State and Federal regulations.
- Other duties as assigned based on business operational needs.
