Job Summary:
We are seeking a CAD & Engineering Document Control Specialist with expertise in AutoCAD (2D and basic 3D) to support engineering and maintenance teams in managing and maintaining technical drawings and documentation. The ideal candidate will be skilled in multiple disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, process, and architectural, and will play a key role in organizing and updating engineering records.
Job Duties:
- Create, edit, and manage 2D and basic 3D AutoCAD drawings across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Incorporate and manage AutoCAD external references (XREFs) within drawings.
- Conduct field visits in an industrial environment to take photos and gather notes, translating findings into accurate CAD drawings.
- Oversee engineering document control, ensuring critical records are properly captured, organized, and made available.
- Utilize and administer Meridian/QVP for document management, including setting user roles, permissions, and maintaining backups.
- Provide training and support on document management systems and CAD tools.
- Troubleshoot software issues related to CAD and document control platforms.
- Coordinate Meridian software updates with plant teams, corporate IT, and consultants.
- Maintain a large-format plotter for plant-wide use.
- Develop expertise in plant infrastructure to assemble comprehensive drawing sets for various projects.
- Work collaboratively with plant management, engineering, maintenance teams, and contractors to ensure documentation supports operational needs.
- Manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and proactively identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D and basic 3D) – Experience with Inventor, Revit, or SolidWorks is a plus but not required.
- Strong understanding of engineering documentation and drawing management.
- Experience with Meridian/QVP or similar document control software is preferred.
- Ability to work in an industrial environment, including fieldwork in varying conditions.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in managing technical documentation.
- Prior experience in engineering, maintenance, or manufacturing is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently, set priorities, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with various teams and contractors.
- Previous leadership or managerial experience is a plus.
