Sterling Engineering is a leading food manufacturer seeking a 2nd Shift Maintenance Supervisor to lead their maintenance team in Montgomery, IL. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical or electrical trades and strong leadership skills.
Job Summary:
The 2nd Shift Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring efficient equipment operation, troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and HVAC systems, performing preventive maintenance on plant equipment and facilities, and reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the maintenance team to ensure smooth operations
- Troubleshoot and repair complex systems, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and HVAC
- Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failure
- Read and interpret technical documents, including blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics
- Work with PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley), calibrate instruments, and maintain HVAC, boilers, and compressors
- Oversee welding, plumbing, brazing, and general building maintenance tasks
- Ensure compliance with GMPs, OSHA safety standards, and company policies
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports
- Train and mentor maintenance team members to foster a culture of continuous improvement
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- 4 years of experience in mechanical or electrical trades preferred
- Experience in processing, packaging, and building utilities a plus
- Strong leadership and multitasking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including varied shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs and work in temperatures of 40°F or less
