Essential Functions
- Consistently demonstrate commitment and support for the Sterling vision, mission, policies, and procedures.
- Perform work in a safe manner in compliance with the job safety analysis (JSA), and other work instructions and policies as outlined by management for operating fork-lifts, overhead cranes, and all other equipment and tools.
- In accordance with policies and procedures, wear the designated personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
- Maintain a clean workspace that is clear of debris and clutter following the guidelines outlined in the 5S visual factory standard, end of shift cleaning protocols, and tool placement(s).
- Follow all operating, cleaning, and safety procedures in the operation of company equipment and/or tools.
- Immediately report any safety related injury or illness and/or any machinery failure to safety and follow protocols as outlined for lockout, tagout and as outlined in the company policies and procedures.
- Loads and unloads inbound and outbound tractor trailers and obtains all required paperwork from the drivers including returns, delivery receipts, bills of lading (BOL) and provide paperwork to guard shack employees.
- Obtains copy of production schedules, shipping and receiving orders and transports materials or equipment to and from designated areas in the warehouse for staging.
- Tracks count of product moved and tags item or removes tags manually or through RFID scanners for inventory controls.
- Participate in cycle counts and physical inventory processes within the warehouse.
- Performs various material handling functions within including loading, unloading, stacking, bracing raw or finished product.
- Inspect product and materials and make notations of any exceptions, or damages, and report them to management.
- Organize panels within the production floor ensuring that it is safely stacked and blocked according to procedures.
- Perform daily inspections of equipment, monitor fluid levels, change batteries and propane tanks, and other basic maintenance functions to ensure optimum performance and safety of equipment.
- Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move panels through the production line ensuring equipment is not overloaded.
- Follow company guidelines and procedures for proper warning signals when operating forklifts and/or overhead cranes.
- Communicate with team members to ensure deadlines are achieved with minimal wasted time and materials.
- Cross train within the team, and across other departments, as needed and required.
- All other duties and projects as assigned.
- Highschool graduate, or GED equivalent is preferred.
- At least one (1) year of experience in a similar role and environment is required.
- Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and handheld RFID scanners is preferred.
