Job Title: Freight Handler
Department: Warehouse
Reports to: Operations Supervisor
Job Status (FLSA): Non-Exempt – Full-Time
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Position Summary: Load outbound trucks, reconcile piece count and condition of cargo to corresponding documents, process cargo in warehouse for consolidation on outbound trailers and /or local delivery with regard for safety of cargo, personnel, and company equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect Cargo for damages - address exceptions
- Responsible for Cargo Stage
- Off load and load of Cargo, Loading of LTL Truck Load
- Weight and dim of freight
- Load balance on over the road trailers
- Comply with all security/ safety procedures
- Comply with TSA cargo regulations
- Loading trailers
- Inspect trailers
- Manifest freight
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Operating knowledge of warehouse equipment: warehouse doors, pallet jacks, hand trucks, forklifts
- Knowledge of warehousing operations
- Knowledge of weight restrictions and requirements for load balance on over the road trailers
- May be required to work overtime and possible weekends if mandated by operational needs
- Problem resolution and reasoning ability
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Be organized and prioritize work, multitask
- Have initiative, be proactive and able to work independently and with others
- Must be receptive to instructions and work with a sense of urgency
- Bilingual Spanish is required
Experience:
- At least 3-4 years in a warehouse environment and 2-3 years LTL truckload preferred
- Requires gas forklift and electric pallet jack experience
Education:
- Requires a high school diploma or GED.
Certifications or Licenses:
- Valid driver’s license required at time of hire.
- Forklift required, and HazMat certifications helpful
