Our client, a global alternative investment manager located in the heart of Midtown, is seeking a Fund Controller. The Fund Controller will collaborate closely with the firm's leadership team to oversee the financial reporting for the firm’s investment funds. This role is vital in the development and execution of policies and controls as the portfolio grows. The individual will be a key contributor to building a top-tier financial reporting function and supporting critical business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the quarterly financial reporting process for the firm’s portfolio of funds, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Develop and enforce robust internal controls to guarantee compliance with accounting standards and industry best practices.
- Oversee the annual audit process by reviewing audit workpapers, coordinating cross-functional deliverables, and addressing technical accounting inquiries.
- Maintain and manage the record-keeping system to support data storage and inform credit loss estimation models.
- Handle daily accounting operations, including booking journal entries and reviewing related schedules.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure that regulatory and reporting requirements are consistently met.
- Assess and enhance accounting processes, and evaluate software solutions to drive business improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- CPA designation preferred.
- Experience with Alternative Credit a must
- At least 6 years of accounting experience (public or private sector).
- Deep understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proven experience in streamlining accounting processes for efficiency.
- Excellent organizational, process management, and communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
- Experience working with general ledger-based ERP systems.
- Strong time management skills to effectively handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
