The Assistant Varsity Girls Softball Coach will support the Head Coach in all aspects of the program, including player development, practice planning, game strategy, and team management. This role is responsible for fostering a positive and competitive environment that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth among student-athletes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and conducting practices that focus on skill development, conditioning, and tactical strategies.
- Provide individual and group instruction to enhance player performance.
- Help evaluate players and determine game lineups and substitutions.
- Offer constructive feedback to athletes to improve their skills and understanding of the game.
- Assist in developing game strategies and analyzing opponents.
- Support the Head Coach during games with decision-making, substitutions, and in-game adjustments.
- Contribute to scouting and reviewing game footage for analysis.
- Serve as a mentor and role model for student-athletes, promoting discipline, respect, and accountability.
- Support the Head Coach in organizing team meetings, events, and communication with players and parents.
- Ensure all players adhere to team policies and school/league regulations.
- Assist with logistics, such as scheduling, transportation, and equipment management.
- Maintain positive relationships with parents, school staff, and the athletic department.
- Ensure player safety and adherence to athletic training and injury prevention protocols.
- Previous coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level preferred.
- Strong knowledge of softball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work with student-athletes of varying skill levels.
- Commitment to sportsmanship, player development, and team success.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to pass background checks and meet school/league requirements.
- Experience playing softball at a competitive level.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
