Description
REPORTS TO: School Principal
JOB CATEGORY: Support
FLSA STATUS/SHIFT: Nonexempt/First Shift
SUMMARY: The Educational Support Professional works with and supports individual students as well as
small groups of students, under the direction of the classroom teacher.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides assistance and carries out the instructions of the classroom teacher to promote a supportive and nurturing learning environment.
2. Monitors individual and/or groups of students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. lunch, bus arrivals/dismissals, playground, classrooms, restrooms, field trips, assemblies, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
3. Tutors students in a variety of subjects.
4. Assists teacher with class preparation.
5. Prepares individual materials to be sent home as instructed by the teacher.
6. Models and maintains discipline procedures and rules established by the teacher.
7. Maintains confidentiality of student information.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participates in staff development sessions for educational support personnel.
2. Completes other duties as assigned.
SKILLS:
1. Knowledge of business English, spelling, and mathematics.
2. General working knowledge of standard office equipment.
3. Spanish/English bilingual fluency preferred.
INTERPERSONAL QUALITIES:

b. Preferred – Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
2. Experience:
a. Required – Successful completion of blood borne pathogen training within the first year of employment.
b. Preferred – Two years of current work experience with school-aged children in a school environment, as well as successful completion of blood borne pathogen training within the first year of employment.
