Description
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the buildings and grounds director, groundskeepers maintain the physical school facilities in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness, and safety so that full educational and community use of each facility may be made at all times.
Essential Functions:
Performs necessary cleaning and other assorted types of work commonly
associated in the overall operation of maintaining school buildings and grounds.
Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on district equipment as needed or assigned.
Promotes safety for the health and comfort of students, employees, and visitors.
Mows and maintains district properties
Snow removal on district properties.
Maintains lawn mower equipment, snow removal equipment, school vehicles and all other maintenance equipment.
Set-up and manage irrigation system as required to maintain grounds during dry conditions.
Performs minor routine plumbing and electrical repairs.
Makes necessary minor welding repairs on equipment.
Communicates schedules for school events, keeping track of building usage.
Responsible for event set-up and take-down.
Prepares and marks athletic fields
Transports equipment throughout the district.
Reports any observed safety hazard of maintenance or security needs to the Grounds Director as might be necessary.
Perform maintenance tasks, which might require the use of a ladder, scaffolding or the aerial platform.
Performs such other duties as may be assigned consistent with the position of Grounds Maintenance.
Custodial duties, when needed
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Wisconsin driver’s license
Respectful and trustworthy with public and private property
Ability to lift heavy weights (50# min.) and stand for prolonged periods of time
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all district employee groups
Knowledge of basic custodial equipment and supplies preferred
