Description
General Summary:
1. Coordinates and manages the Sheboygan Area School District (SASD)/Community Recreation Department (CRD) Child Care/Kid Stop program, which includes year-round, before and after school care, and full-day summer program. The Child Care/Kid Stop program abides by the Wisconsin Rules and Regulations for Group Child Care(s) and emphasizes healthy lifestyles, creativity, self-expression, and year-round recreation activities.
2. Responsible for the staff and daily operations of the before and after school SASD elementary sites in addition to the Pigeon River Recreation Center (PRRC) full-day summer program & non-school day childcare.
3. Provides on-going communications with CRD staff, SASD building principals, administrators, parents, children, local businesses, and other agencies in the community.
4. Coordinates and communicates with Kid Stop community partner sites - the YMCA and the Boys and Girls Club.
5. Coordinates/assists with other CRD recreation programs, special events, and activities.
Responsibilities/Tasks
1. Recruits, interviews, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates part-time and seasonal staff.
2. Conducts orientations for staff, parents, and children.
3. Updates parent handbook and registration flyers.
4. Prepares work schedules and manages childcare staff.
5. Maintains current files/records on children and staff.
6. Maintains confidentiality of childcare participants and staff records.
7. Conducts monthly staff meetings.
8. Actively review and improve all program areas.
9. Provides continuing education opportunities for staff.
10. Is available to fill in for staff and assist staff as needed.
11. Inspects and replaces damaged/lost materials.
12. Orders/purchases supplies and materials for the program as needed.
13. Provides for the safety and well-being of the children and staff.
14. Monitors PRRC building and cleaning staff.
15. Resolves program-related issues and enforces participant discipline/solutions.
16. Perform other duties that are self-initiated or as assigned by the Director of Community Recreation.

Qualifications
1. Hold a bachelor’s degree in education or recreation with an emphasis in programming for children ages 3-12.
2. Three-years of experience working in child care or recreation programming.
3. Must be certified in First Aid and CPR or willing to obtain this certification in the first six months.
4. Must pass the criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening and physical.

1. Knowledge of and ability to use a variety of computer software and social media/marketing platforms.
2. Ability to perform multiple tasks and take on challenges.
3. Ability to work with a diverse population of children and staff.
4. Strong communication skills.
