The Assistant Director of Admissions serves as a member of the freshman admissions team, reviews applications and assists with review process for works with first-year applicants, assists in recruitment and yield events, is responsible for counseling and recruiting students in an assigned territory, acts as a registered Designated School Official (DSO) in serving international applicants through the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) within U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and assists the admissions team in meeting goals and expectations. The opportunity exists for possible staff supervision in the future.

Education/Experience:
Bachelors degree plus two years related experience with the preferred background being two years of undergraduate admissions experience in a selective not-for-profit environment, preferably with experience working with international students and a knowledge of SEVIS and international student requirements, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver license with good driving record: must be insurable.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability:
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Excellent writing skills are necessary to create reports, business correspondence, marketing brochures and publications.
- Effectively present information verbally as well as written.
- Must be able to respond directly to questions asked by students, their parents and the general public in a group setting or on a one-to-one basis.
- Math aptitude is required to correctly calculate mathematical problems such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages.
- Exceptional leadership and supervisory skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Must have an appreciation for the mission of a private, career-focused liberal arts university and be interested in working in an extremely collaborative, team-oriented setting.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, knowledge of Slate, Colleague and/or other Ellucian products preferred. Experience working with a CRM, specifically Slate, preferred.
- To properly handle and reasonably control any situation which may arise. Interpret a variety of instructions as given whether in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Traveling is a requirement of this position.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
Medium work: Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Requires physical abilities consistent with a busy office environment on a university campus. Requires ability to speak for extended periods of time, lift/move boxes of University promotional materials up to 40 pounds, and drive to off-campus locations for recruitment activities. Daily work with computers, monitors, copy machines, and other office equipment.
Essential Functions:
- Recruit prospective new students in assigned geographic territory
- Serve as a registered SEVIS Designated School Official (DSO) for international applicants through the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, by collecting, analyzing and processing related paperwork and acting as a liaison for related communication and documentation for international applicants.
- Maintain a current knowledge of application requirements and admission criteria
- Manage all steps of admission process and decision processing
- Serve as a reliable staff resource for Slate, determining correct staff usage and identifying further strategic uses
- Plan future strategic staff outreach action items for prospective students
- Work with student inquiries, applicants, and accepted students for schools within assigned territory
- Visit high schools and conduct presentations about Stevenson University in assigned territory. Position requires approximately 6-8 weeks of travel in the fall and 2-3 weeks in the spring.
- Coordinate all special events (i.e. college fairs, receptions) within assigned territory
- Meet or exceed established goals set for assigned territory
- Counsel and advise students and their parents on every aspect of the admissions process including application requirements, deadlines, academic programs, activities and criteria for scholarships and financial aid.
- Present admissions information sessions to prospective students and their families
- Conduct on- and off-campus interviews of prospective students
- Responsible to work occasional evenings and Saturdays
- Part of freshman admissions team, responsible for meeting department goals and expectations.
- Maintain up-to-date information on the universitys academic programs, activities, scholarships, etc.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the computer system and programs used by the admissions staff, including Slate, Colleague, Microsoft Office, etc. Work with academic departments in identifying information necessary to the recruitment of students for their individual programs.
- Attend workshops and conferences as a representative of the University, as well as for professional development.
- Maintain current information on admission guidelines and regulations, as well as current trends and issues within the profession
