What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Lab Technician 2nd shift position at Steward Advanced Materials LLC?
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for testing materials through all phases of production, including raw material, in-process and final product testing. They are also responsible for dock audits and preparation of Certificates of Analysis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform all work in a safe and conscientious manner.
Complete 100 tests on Iron silicide, ferrite loading powders, leaf alloy powders, and R&D materials.
- Perform laser diffraction particle size analysis, surface area analysis, x-ray fluorescence, tap density, true density, moisture analysis, corrosion resistance, magnetic properties, and gas chromatography, etc.
- Daily references (function checks) on equipment prior to testing and/or plot QC charts to assure instrument calibration.
- Receive production samples and perform testing as required by (SPI) Standard Processing Instructions. Perform tests per applicable quality assurance procedure, respond and disposition material to non-conforming tests.
- Communicate with production, quality, and management as necessary, the status of in process results and/or any problems detected with raw materials, in process checks or final product testing.
- Log test result entries into the computer.
- Generate COA’s for shipment of final product.
- Perform dock audits on product awaiting shipment.
- Verify final product conforms to internal and external specifications.
- File production and lab paperwork.
- Conduct and document preventative maintenance on Lab equipment.
- Perform general housekeeping to ensure a clean and safe environment
- Pack and store retained samples.
- Correctly dispose of retained samples and quality assurance files per retention time tables.
- Wear protective equipment as required.
- Work overtime or a flexible schedule as the lab work load demands.
- Strong attention to detail is necessary.
- Document Control duties: which will include but not linited to revising document s and adding then to the document control system.
- Other duties as assigned and required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to work 2:00pm to 10:30pm
Employee is exposed to hazardous chemicals and industrial powders. Operates measuring equipment throughout the day while meeting the demands of accurate, fast results for continuous plant operation.
