What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab/Quality Assurance Technician position at Stewart's Shops?
Stewart's Shops Plant is looking for a Lab/QA Technician that can guarantee products are produced and distributed to the highest food safety and quality standards. Our technicians assist with investigations and conduct audits.
Duties:
Collect, test, and log product and environmental samples.
Acquire proficiency in all lab methods and standard operating procedures (SOP).
Complete physical, chemical, biological, and organoleptic analysis of a variety of products. Taste testing required daily.
Microbiological testing of products using aseptic techniques.
Ensure all documentation is current and properly completed by lab and production personnel (Production logs, forms, SOPs, etc.).
Assure compliance to all quality standards.
Facilitate investigational studies.
Attain applicable industry certifications.
Follow and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Ensure product specifications are met according to company and regulatory standards.
Assist with root cause analysis.
Monitor and maintain calibration of lab equipment (scales, thermometers, pipettes, etc.)
General laboratory housekeeping to maintain a clean, orderly work environment.
Perform other duties as assigned by QA Supervision and/or management.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent (degree in science preferred but not required).
Previous lab and/or manufacturing experience a plus, but not required.
Good communication skills and excellent time management skills, including frequent interaction with upper management.
Ability to work in a food allergen environment (Milk, Peanuts, Egg, Soy, Wheat, Sesame, Tree Nuts, Fish (Tuna)).
Strong work ethic and ability to work independently (Reliable, Team Mentality, Flexible).
Basic knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel and Outlook.
Ability to be on your feet for several consecutive hours, able to lift 40 pounds, and work comfortably on ladders.
Schedule:
Full time position available.
Schedule can vary between 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts and 4 days a week, 10-hour shifts, depending on the needs of the department.
Schedule can include a variety of shifts; working hours fall between 7am and 8:30pm.
Schedule includes rotating days off which will include some weekends and holidays.
Starting pay is $22-$25/hour, based on experience and education.
Earn an extra $1 for all hours worked on Sundays.
