We are seeking an Import Broker to arrange for and implement the import and customs clearance functions for STIHL. They will ensure timely payment of invoices and accurate draw back of imposed duties as well as ensure the availability of certain parts and components for production needs.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs customs broker operations for all incoming finished goods and Stihl part containers by ensuring that the merchandise weights or volumes are the same as the ordered weights and volumes by comparing invoices, bills of lading, arrival notices and shipping statements with order documentation. Communicates order delivery status and shipping information to Finance and receiving.
- Coverts foreign currency to dollars. Calculates duties or tariffs on items using Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
- Calculates other required customs data, enters into computerized brokerage system, and transmits data to customs for import clearance. Receives responses from customs and responds to questions, problems, or requests for additional documentation. Prepares documentation for US Census Bureau, US Customs, etc.
- Ensures release of manifest with appropriate documentation; communicates to transportation lines for timely drayage of materials.
- Provides required customs or governmental documentation to receiving ports/terminals via EDI/modem.
- Arranges for wire transfer of payment, including additional charges from truck lines, freight forwarders, terminals, etc.
- Plans for the timely acquisition of sub assembled components for Stihl Parts, Andreas Stihl, Moto-Serras and China.
- Releases orders to Finished Goods, Raw Material, and Stihl Parts for selection and transfer to production.
- Coordinates production of sub assembled materials for outside packaging contractors.
- Updates, creates, transmits and or distributes other departmental records and reports including payroll and expense reports information, scrap requests, and material records.
- Monitors and administers the inventory of excess and obsolete parts.
- Creates presentation materials as needed for department.
- All work affecting product quality shall be competent on the basis of appropriate education, training, skills, and experience.
- Assumes related duties as assigned or required.
Specifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 4 years of related experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Customs Brokers license.
