Purpose
To complete governmental regulatory compliance obligations regarding Sales and Use tax reporting and other various tax areas as needed. To maintain proper tax records and related schedules and to perform tax impact analysis as required.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Reviews sales tax information related to STIHL Inc. and determines sales tax implementations of various transactions.
- Reviews and analyzes state sales and use tax returns to ensure state reporting and payment obligations are satisfied.
- Maintains full control over accounts receivable sales taxes and sets up exemption records as needed, involving determination of applicable state and local taxing jurisdictions and qualifications for exemption.
- Monitors and determines applicability of new and changing state sales and use tax laws, including tax rates.
- Maintains state and local rate administrative screens in invoicing system.
- Prepares and calculates use taxes owed monthly for Virginia Beach and all branch locations including monthly general ledger accruals.
- Assists with state sales and use tax audits as necessary.
- Completes initial tax research regarding sales and use tax issues and other tax related topics as needed.
- Compiles information supporting various tax credit determinations, including research and development credits, oil tax credits, federal and state fuel credits, etc. in order to meet deadlines.
- Reconciles general ledger accounts as they relate to tax related accounts, including preparation of journal entries as needed.
- Assists with the preparation of state apportionment factors for state income tax purposes.
- Initiate electronic state quarterly estimated income tax payments.
- Compiles information supporting work papers for key federal income tax return components including, but not limited to, domestic production deduction and bonus depreciation adjustments.
- Assists with compiling annual IRS prescribed Transfer Pricing contemporaneous documentation supporting STIHL Inc. related party transactions.
- Prepares personal property assessment annually along with annual corporate report filing requirements.

Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn: SAP, SAP Ariba, CCH AnswerConnect, CCH Sale Tax Compliance Office, CCH Sales Tax Office tax engine.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
