The Exploration Manager – Nevada, will be responsible for the design and implementation of exploration programs across the company’s district scale landholdings. Responsibilities include the development and mentorship of the exploration team, in addition to oversight of all technical activities inclusive of scout, resource infill and expansion drill campaigns. Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that all activities of the Exploration Geology Department are consistent with all Environmental, Health and Safety policies and practices.
- Provide technical leadership for the exploration team including review, development and maintenance of best practice exploration techniques and protocols.
- Collection and maintenance of highest quality data and constant monitoring of the data collection process to ensure it meets all required standards for reporting to the stock exchange.
- Recruit, train and develop a team of talented Geologists and Geo-Technicians. Provide mentorship, guidance and leadership to the whole Geology team.
- Work directly with operational departments to achieve site and company strategic objectives.
- Maintain compliance with relevant Mine Health and Safety Administration (MSHA) rules and regulations.
- Prepare and manage operating (e.g., drilling, assaying) and capital budgets / contracts.
- Support the creation, delivery, hand-off and communication of high-quality geologic models to the technical services team for estimation.
- Develop an understanding of mineralization controls across the district, to improve exploration efficiency and quality target generation.
- Ensure the integrity and validity of all data used in mineral resource estimation by following established QA/QC protocols.
- Plan work programs and budgets for short- and medium-term planning.
Qualifications
A Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or Geosciences is required; an advanced degree would be advantageous. The successful candidate must have over 7 years of relevant exploration experience, demonstrated through progression to more senior roles, with an excellent track record of discovery and a passion for geology. Exceptional understanding of geological environments, deposit models, and ore-forming processes as it pertains to the latest concepts of gold and silver deposit environments is necessary. Specifically, deep technical knowledge of sediment and volcanic hosted epithermal precious metal deposits would be beneficial.
A background that includes experience with 3-D modeling software, proficiency in GIS and other exploration software, and experience exploring on active mine sites is essential. This role requires an individual who is well versed in various analytical methodologies used in silver and gold deposits along with understanding and application of QA/QC processes. The chosen individual must be registered as or must have the ability to be registered as a Professional Geologist or Engineer to meet the requirements of being a Qualified Person under SEC S-K 1300.
Organizational Factors
The Exploration Manager - Nevada will report directly to the Senior Director, Exploration. The Exploration Manager will directly manage three (3) Senior Geologists, three (3) Exploration Geologists, and three (3) hourly Geotechnical Engineers.
