Firewood Processor

Stoked Firewood is a small local business located just north of Duluth, MN. Our goal is to supply the Twin Ports area with quality firewood that is ready-to-burn and hassle-free from the moment they order firewood to when they burn it. We specialize in kiln-dried hardwoods that are packaged into 1/6 cords bags as well as bundles. We are a small team that takes pride in creating a great product and supporting our community.

We are looking for a Firewood Processor to add to our team. This position is focused on taking the logs that we get into our facility and turning them into premium firewood. This largely involves cutting and splitting the logs into firewood pieces. The position also requires the team member to take an active role in maintaining the Stoked Firewood yard, loading the kilns that dry the firewood, and use a loader to move both logs around for processing and firewood around for pickups and deliveries. If you are someone who has a knack for learning and running machinery, enjoys developing solutions, and is excited about being in a hands on job that is outside this position is a great fit for you.

This role is 32 hours a week, either 5 x 6 hour days or 4 x 8 hour days. More information will be provided regarding schedule options in interviews.

This position is semi-seasonal, our firewood yard closes the months January to April Annually. Preference for applicants to be able to continue with Stoked Firewood in the spring, though this isn't a requirement to apply.

Job Responsibilities

• Operate the firewood processor safely and effectively, cutting the firewood the the dimension specified by the General Manager.
• Operate a loader to move logs and inventory around the yard.
• Load wood kilns with split firewood to be dried.
• Run kiln cycles on the kiln software as specified by the General Manager.
• Follow the maintence plan laid out at the Stoked Firewood yard.
• Load bags of firewood for customers in coordination with orders confirmed by the general manager while also providing excellent customer service.
• Maintain a clean working space and consistantly looking to improve upon the organization at the yard.
• Assist in packaging firewood into bags and and bundles
• Drive Stoked firewood vehicles on delivery of firewood or to assist in yard organization.
• Unload firewood from kiln and tumble firewood into a pile where it can be packaged.

Requirements

• Valid Drivers License in good standing
• Transportation to and from work
• General working knowledge of machinery and machinery maintenance
• Positive working attitdue
• Ability to clearly communicate and receive feedback
• Ability to be punctual and on time
• Preffered: Previous experience with the firewood processing
