About the Company
Ag Transfer LLC (“the Company”) operates a busy grain transload facility in Charleston, SC receiving and loading bulk grain commodities into shipping containers and preparing them for export. At the yard, the Company operates a fleet of semi-tractors, yard trucks/hostlers, and other heavy equipment used for daily operations within the yard.
Ag Transfer is looking for a capable equipment operator with experience to operate a track unit with an attitude for safety, and ability to work independently in order to operate the Rail King, assist in the loading operations, and work closely with the yard team.

Job Description
The Rail Operator will apply their prior operator work experience (operating various types of equipment such as Forklift, Reach Truck, or related heavy equipment) to learn and become efficient in operating the Rail King to move rail cars between our yard and the main rail switch. Adhere to all safety rules. Pay strict attention to the activity throughout the yard and support the demand of the daily transload volumes. Able to safely operate the Rail King, work independently and safely. Communicate effectively by 2-way radio with the ground team. Flexible to learn other roles and willingly work as part of the yard team when needed throughout the facility.
Must be punctual, arriving by 6:00am Mon – Fri, and dependable
Key Responsibilities:
- Being punctual to arrive by 6:00 am daily.
- Being dependable as this role is the hub of receiving the inbound product.
- Communicate effectively with the team, and use 2-way radio to communicate when in the Rail King.
- Ability to stay focused for long periods of time while working alone in the Rail King
- Strict adherence to all safety procedures.
- Willing to learn and work in other roles to support the overall facility operation.
- Must be able to physically climb up and down transloading equipment and ladders safely.
- Ability to walk, bend, stoop, climb, and maintain balance throughout the day.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with safely operating equipment such Forklift, Reach Truck, or Heavy Equipment
- Trained in and comfortable with following safety procedures
- Comfortable working outside and wearing PPE
- Experience as a Spotter or operating a hostler is preferred
Hours
- Early start - MUST be at work BEFORE 6am daily.
- Full time, 40 hours/week with overtime averaging 10-15 hours a week consistently.
