What are the responsibilities and job description for the Major Gifts Officer position at Stone House?
Job Description: The Stone House Major Gifts Officer is a new, full-time role that will manage our first major gifts program. Under the supervision of the Chief Development Officer, the Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gifts from individuals at the four-, five, or six-figure level. This role will collaborate with all members of the development team to support Stone House’s annual and long-term fundraising goals.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement Stone House’s first major gifts program.
- Gather data, assess prospects, and develop strategies designed to realize the current and life-time giving potential of individual prospects.
- Research and identify new donors interested in Stone House’s mission; cultivate relationships and solicit gifts with existing donors
- Manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including our donor database and wealth screening tools.
- Develop and present written, verbal or other proposals to prospective and current donors for funding.
- Communicate with donors through face-to-face cultivation, direct solicitation and stewardship meetings; assist board and other staff with their solicitation as needed.
- Track and report all communication and progress in Salesforce.
- Ensures appropriate, timely public and private recognition of major gifts.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Help our donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a relationship with our organization.
- Engage in networking activities or other opportunities to generate potential prospects for cultivation.
- Follow a strict code of confidentiality
- Work with the development department and board of director’s Development Committee to align efforts and set goals
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Development Officer
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Commitment to supporting and empowering survivors of domestic violence
- Minimum of 3 years of fundraising experience with a demonstrated record of success in soliciting impactful gifts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills: ability to communicate professionally and effectively with donors and community members
- Self-starter that enjoys developing new programs and strategies to increase individual giving
- Excellent organization and time management; detail and deadline oriented.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a hybrid team utilizing virtual communication tools.
- Experience with donor databases and/or CRM software, Microsoft Suite, and Google Suite
- Ability to travel across Greater Boston as necessary for in-person meetings and events.
Salary : $80,000 - $85,000
