Our client, a leading PR/strategic communications firm, is seeking a Payroll Manager to support the firm’s payroll function across multiple offices. The Payroll Manager will be responsible for all things relating to payroll across a multiple state jurisdiction and the role will involve managing payroll operations, resolving payroll discrepancies, implementing best practices, and coordinating with various departments to ensure smooth payroll processing.
This position is based in their Washington, D.C. office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage payroll process for over 700 employees within three separate payroll groups.
- Manage execution of payroll processing procedures to ensure timely and accurate delivery of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of employee data updates including new hires, terminations, changes in status, and changes to pay rates.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors and legal teams as needed.
- Identifies, recommends, tests, and participates in change management of updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Execution of W2 processes and other year-end activities.
- Review of payroll tax filings on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year end basis.
- Manage payroll and tax filings across multiples state tax jurisdictions.
- Provides support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Address employee inquires to payroll and taxes questions. Communicate payroll-related policies as needed.
- Analyze current payroll and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations.
- Provide financial data related to payroll as needed.
- Understanding of the firms employee benefits and how that affects payroll.
- Work closely with HR, finance, and accounting teams to streamline processes and resolve payroll-related issues.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).
- 10 years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with “ADP Workforce Now” is a must, NetSuite background is a plus.
- Payroll processing experience with large companies is a must, along with experience managing payroll across multiple state jurisdictions.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Salary : $125,000 - $150,000
