Summary : This position provides instrument and electrical technical support to facilities and field operations. The position will repair, install, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance tasks on control systems, measurement systems, and electrical systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Detailed knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, OSHA, NEC, AGA, API and GPA requirements and procedures.
  • Ability to read P&ID drawings as well as comprehend and apply information in operating and equipment manuals.
  • Experience with ABB Total Flow and Fisher ROC flow computer installation, troubleshooting and configuration is desired. Experience with FB2200 flow computer is a plus.
  • Must have ability to perform periodic and emergency overhauls and reconditioning of equipment including, but not limited to : remote transmitter units, controllers, uninterruptible power supplies, programmable logic controllers, fire detectors, temperature monitors, regulated power supplies, frequency to D.C. converters, metering circuits, pressure and temperature transmitters, including totalizers, 24VDC and 120VAC relay logic panels, assorted panel meters, electronic tools and test equipment, control valves, instrumentation, control and supervisory equipment.
  • Must use and operate all pertinent safety equipment when performing duties in potentially hazardous areas (gas monitor, hard hat, safety glasses, etc.).
  • Must be able to perform the routine testing and logging of pipeline and compressor station safety devices as required by D.O.T. regulations using appropriate tools.
  • May be requested to inspect or oversee the work of contract employees in the installation or maintenance of electronic instrumentation equipment.
  • Must be able to : investigate and diagnose reported difficulties; make repairs and adjustments and restore equipment and facilities to proper operation. Must be able to use various test equipment, measuring devices, hand and power tools and gauges related to the electronic instrumentation field.
  • Work with Measurement Analysts to provide technical assistance and troubleshooting where required.
  • Must have working knowledge of VFD’s & Motor Control circuitry.
  • Subject to callouts to respond to operational issues and emergencies after working hours, at night, and on weekends and holidays.
  • Collect gas samples in compliance with industry guidelines.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize assigned responsibilities and coordinate work with employees and contractors.

Required Education :

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Preferred Education :

  • A bachelor’s or associate degree in a related technical discipline, such as Electrical & Instrumentation from an accredited post-secondary school is strongly desired.
  • Working Conditions and Requirements : The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Driving, walking, standing frequently.
  • Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions and some heavy lifting.
  • Must be able to climb tanks
  • Visits to industrial settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Proficiency with computers including MS Office applications such as Excel and Outlook as well as other computer-based work training, time reporting, expense reporting, and on-line work applications and documentation.
