Senior Financial Analyst

Description

The Senior Financial Analyst will play a role in supporting management’s strategic planning and decision making by developing, maintaining, and enhancing financial tools and systems. This individual will provide advanced analysis and financial data, interpret key metrics, and offer strategic recommendations to optimize financial performance. Reporting on the company’s financial status through sophisticated financial modeling, detailed variance analysis, and business forecasting will be central to the role.  

JOB SUMMARY

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

• Prepare and distribute comprehensive monthly financial reports, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and actionable insights for senior management. 
• Develop advanced financial models to project trends, assess risk, and support long-term financial planning. 

Budgeting & Forecasting:

• Lead the preparation of detailed budgets and financial forecasts, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
• Use advanced forecasting techniques (e.g., scenario analysis sensitivity analysis) to predict financial performance and identify new opportunities and risks.

Variance and Trend Analysis:

• Conduct in-depth variance analysis between actual results and budget/forecast, identifying the root causes of discrepancies, collaborating closely with other departments to understand variances, recommending corrective actions. 
• Analyze key business areas and collaborating closely with other departments. Examples include:
• Operations: Assess procurement, manufacturing and distributions costs for variances and identify areas for optimization.
• Sales: Perform margin analysis, evaluate the impact of discounts, promotions, and pricing. 
• Marketing: Analyze ROI on marketing spend.
• Other: Review G&A expenses and other operational costs. 

System Optimization:

• Support optimization and ongoing maintenance of the Jet Analytics system to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency. 
• Drive continuous improvements in financial data systems and reporting tools, ensuring data integrity and consistency.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Math, Accounting, Economics or other related field. An MBA or professional certifications (e.g. CFA, CPA) is strongly preferred.
• 7 years of experience in financial analysis or related field, with a demonstrated track record of complex financial modeling and analysis. 

Technical Proficiency:

• Advanced user of BC 14 - Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Jet Analytics or similar systems is required. 
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Power Query & PowerPivot, and complex financial modeling expertise required).
• Experience with relational databases (SQL or similar) and financial data integration across platforms.
• Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI) for data visualization and reporting. 

Analytical & Strategic Sills:

• Expertise in advanced financial analysis techniques, including forecasting and variance analysis. 
• Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
• Strong ability to identify financial trends and risk opportunities

Communication & Collaboration:

• Strong verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to present complex financial data in a clear, concise manner. 
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to integrate financial data across platforms, develop operational dashboards, and support data-driven decision-making at all levels of the organization. 
• Proactive and self-directed, with a strong desire for continuous improvement and professional development. 
• Demonstrated ability to lead financial projects and initiatives independently, managing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
