What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Navigator position at Stony Brook Administrative Services?
- Obtain and enter all demographic information for both the patient and their partner, (where applicable.)
- Set up and explain portal use for patient/couple. Trouble shoot any issues patients are having with the portal
- Assign all appropriate paperwork/consents to the portal
- Verify eligibility and benefits within 24 hours of call
- Upload benefit information to the portal, notify patient by text and follow up call.
- Explain and answer all patient benefit questions
- Enter appointments into eIVF and TEAMS accurately
- Confirm new patient appointments
- Ensure all documents are in place(registration/Insurance/pharmacy cards/licenses/photos and patient history complete) prior to their appointment
- Verify insurance benefits every 6 months for existing patients.
- Verify and enter new insurances for existing patients.
- Back up for call center
- Back up for scanning
- Back up for record releases

Position Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- Superior level of secretarial and organizational skills.
- Candidate must be detail-oriented and demonstrate the ability to multi-task while prioritizing job tasks.
- Understanding of various insurance plans and need for authorization/referral.
- Computer and EMR experience
- Possesses exceptional interpersonal skills and prior phone etiquette demonstrating compassion and patience.
- 2 years medical front desk experience or equivalent field-related experience required.
