POSITION DESCRIPTION : The Clinical Supervisor assists the Director of Quannacut Outpatient Services, in providing high quality services by supervising clinical staff and coordinating the delivery of services. This position demonstrates a full understanding of the Quannacut and SBELIH Mission and promotes the use of sound therapeutic techniques. The Clinical Supervisor provides assessment and treatment services in addition to outreach and educational services. The Clinical Supervisor will assist the director in maintaining treatment in conjunction with NYS OMH, NYS OASAS, Joint Commission and DOH regulations and standards of care

As part of Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital (SBELIH) combines the best in academic and community medicine, improving access to advanced medical care for residents of the North Fork and Shelter Island. With 70 beds, SBELIH is Suffolk County’s first hospital, serving the North Fork since 1905. SBELIH provides care to 25,000 year-round residents and expanding to 60,000 summer residents with comprehensive healthcare solutions, including behavioral health, medical-surgical, orthopedics and general surgery, wound care, interventional pain management and GI, advanced ambulatory care, diagnostic, and physical therapy services. The hospital is also a clinical campus and training site for Stony Brook Medicine, with its first SBELIH Psychiatry resident having graduated in 2022.

Education And Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work and NYS LCSW or equivalent advanced practice healthcare related degree.
- MSW from an accredited graduate school.
- Licensed and currently registered to practice in New York State
- Must comply with NASW Code of Ethics
- NYS OASAS CASAC preferred
- Supervises clinical staff in their direct service to clients.
- Completes annual assessments on supervised staff and documents staff competencies
- Participate in program development activities.
- Makes recommendations for performance improvement activities and assessing program effectiveness
- Coordinates services with referral sources.
- Provides consultation services and in-service trainings to community groups, organizations and agencies.
- Provides in-service trainings to clinical staff
- Represents Quannacut Outpatient Services at conferences, meetings and trainings as assigned.
- Reviews case records for adherence to NYS OMH, DOH, and The Joint Commission guidelines and regulations.
- Provides leadership in the absence of the Director of Outpatient Services.
- Provides individual, and/or group therapy as needed.
- Demonstrates high level knowledge of mental health diagnoses, DSM-5-TR, and their effects on human behavior.
- Displays expert level knowledge on factors that impact mental health treatment and recovery.
- Maintains accurate and clear records in accordance with SBELIH, QOPS and OMH policies.
- Adheres to hospital and departmental rules and regulations.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned
- Provides on-call coverage
- Demonstrates understanding of discharge planning.
- Demonstrates patient-centered patient advocacy and service excellence
- Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrates understanding of community systems
- Demonstrates teamwork.
- Demonstrates understanding of data collection and statistics.
- Demonstrates ability to manage complex caseloads.
- Computer proficiency.
- Basic Life Support (“BLS”) required; American Heart Association
- A minimum of three (3) years post master’s experience in mental health treatment.
- A minimum of one (1) year in a clinical supervisory role
- Understanding of mental health diagnoses, treatment modalities, and therapeutic interventions as demonstrated by a minimum of three (3) years continuous professional or educational experience.
- Experience working with adolescents
- Experience facilitating DBT, CBT or other evidence-based treatments
- Advanced knowledge of mental health/substance use diagnosis, DSM-IV-TR.
- Available to participate in Performance Improvement/Quality Improvement.
- Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development
- Must be able to respond quickly in an emergent situation
- Must be able to use stairs in an emergent situation
- Must be able to walk, carry semi-heavy equipment and reach overhead.
- Must have excellent communication skills both orally and written in emergent situations.
- Must be able to fully participate in Crisis Prevention Training
