Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Painting :
The Department of Art at Stony Brook University invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in Painting and Drawing, to commence in Fall 2025. The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of contemporary painting and drawing practices and contribute to the department’s interdisciplinary and forward-thinking vision.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Terminal degree (or foreign equivalent) in Studio Art or an appropriate discipline, or equivalent commensurate experience. Established and active art practice with a professional exhibition record. Professional standing and potential within the field of contemporary painting and drawing.
Preferred Qualifications
At least three years of teaching experience at the college/university level. Ability to introduce diverse and contemporary pedagogical perspectives reflecting on both national and international transformations in painting practice. Ability to teach across Fine Arts areas. Experience in curriculum development and program supervision.
