What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Supervisor position at Storer Transportation?
Storer is seeking an Operations Supervisor who shall provide overall day-to-day management and supervision of the City of Lompoc, Ca, Transit System. The Operations Supervisor shall assist the Project Manager with administering transit operating contracts, including direction and supervision of operations, and performance. This person will be responsible for providing efficient public transportation services including the improvement of all operations and compliance with established statutes and requirements of regulatory agencies.

Required Experience:
- Shall have at minimum of three (3) years of recent experience in supervising (as either a lead supervisor or assistant supervisor) a public fixed route and/or demand response service plus adequate supervisory experience, in public or private service, supervising at least 15 people.
- Must hold a VTT Certificate or have the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.

- Must report to work on site daily.
- Direct the day-to-day operation of the service to ensure safe, cost-effective and on-time performance of the service.
- Plans and assess long and short-term goals and objectives for revenue service, revenue service modifications, and personnel and fleet requirements and attainment of goals and objectives.
- Develops and monitors annual operations and reports, reviews transportation activities and assesses unmet transportation needs.
- Responsible for compliance, such as triennial review adherence and report submissions.
- Assists the Agency Transit Manager and Project Manager and his/her staff as needed.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with local officials, agency directors, and the public.
- Monitors customer service and satisfaction.
- Possesses a clear comprehension of the operation of the overall system to meet the needs of passengers.
- Plans all routes for the most efficient and effective use of personnel and vehicles.
- Effectively communicates transportation philosophies.
- Adheres to the policies and standards adopted by the Board, Council, governmental agencies and Storer.
- Maintains appearance of all facilities and vehicles in such a manner as to enhance the prestige and dignity of the division.
- Immediate liaison between Storer, Agency, and associated staff members
- Create and continue a working relationship with the community, employees, and clients.
- Organizes regular staff meetings and builds an environment in which employees willingly produce maximum work.
- Provide a safe and secure public transportation system for all customers utilizing the service.
- Oversee and ensure a fully staffed operation.
- Ensures only qualified drivers are placed in revenue service.
- Work with the Agency to anticipate issues and resolve those immediately.

- Clearly communicate goals to department heads
- Ensure that service safety, reliability, maintenance and quality is maintained.
- Ensure a timely response to passengers by closely working with staff.
- Attend and preside over meetings and training as necessary.
- Monitor and ensure radio procedures and policies are followed by staff and bus operators in accordance with FCC regulations.
- Make sure performance goals are met.
- Ensure all employees are properly trained and that all training programs and processes are always in an inspection ready status.
- Manage staff, prepare work schedules and assign specific duties.
- Determine staffing requirements, interview, hire and train new employees, or oversee those personnel processes.
- Counsels and recommends disciplinary action of staff.
- Evaluates performance of supervisors and administrative staff.
- Responds to employee grievances.
- Ensure that all staff understand their roles, responsibilities and expectations.
- In the event of an employee absence, make sure contingency plans are in place for staff.
- Develop and administer policies and procedures with legal, contractual and company guidance.
- Work with staff and Agency to prevent service delays or interruptions.
- Ensure all federal, state and local regulatory requirements are followed.
- Responsible for preparing financial reports for effective management & clearly showing operational effectiveness.
- Apply common sense to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or in graph/diagrammatic form.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
