About the Role
The Global Synthetic Process Technology Manager is responsible for providing technology solutions for global synthetic spinning processes and coordinating projects with Operations and Product Development teams. The primary focus is on the development, optimization, and implementation of improvements in process efficiency, product quality, and cost reduction for synthetic nonwovens operations.
This position involves directing and conducting projects to optimize polymer spinning processes and final product manufacturing while ensuring all safety procedures are followed. The scope of influence covers raw material acceptance through final packaging. The individual in this role will work within a cross-functional, global team to achieve corporate, divisional, and departmental objectives. This role includes direct management of 2-4 process engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Process Technology team, prioritizing projects, allocating technical resources, and managing budgets.
- Collaborate with commercial, manufacturing, and product technology teams.
- Optimize the spunbond process using data-driven approaches to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Conduct plant trials to evaluate and implement new process settings and equipment.
- Develop and commercialize new control approaches and process equipment based on trial results.
- Document project results in technical reports.
- Identify and implement best practices across global plants.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues related to spunbond processes and provide technical support to plant operations.
- Work closely with product technology teams to align process and product initiatives.
- Support new product development by establishing process settings to meet quality and performance standards.
- Stay up to date with industry advancements and apply new technologies where appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in chemical, manufacturing, or materials science engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering or manufacturing management.
- Experience in the synthetic industry, preferably in Spunbond, Spunlace, or Carding technologies.
- Strong expertise in process optimization and manufacturing technology.
- Ability to manage and mentor technical teams.
- Experience with process control strategies and capital investment planning.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
This position requires frequent travel and offers relocation assistance for the ideal candidate.
