Storm Smart is seeking an Installer - Trainee to support the installation of our flood protection systems. This role is ideal for individuals with general installation experience and a solid mechanical aptitude. While similar to a Shutter Installer, this position requires less detail-oriented finish work and focuses primarily on mounting tracks to exterior walls.
The Shutter Installer Trainee is a position designed to provide hands-on training and experience in the installation of flood protection systems. The trainee will work closely with experienced installers to learn the proper techniques and safety practices required to effectively install our product.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Assist in the installation of tracks and flood protection systems on residential and commercial buildings
Use hand and power tools to securely mount tracks to walls, ensuring proper alignment and anchoring
Support the lead installer in preparing and organizing materials for daily jobs
Load and unload products and tools from company vehicles
Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times
Follow company safety standards and installation procedures
Learn and grow into additional installation responsibilities over time

Required Skills/ Abilities:
- 1-2 years in Hurricane Protection Installation a plus
- Carpentry experience is necessary.
- Mechanically minded, with the ability to stand back and assess the situation before commencing work.
- Strong fault-finding skills and rectification of mechanical issues and basic electrical problems, minimizing the need to go back on jobs.
- Excellent Customer Service skills as you will be engaging with our client and other vendors when necessary.
- Ability to work in a hot, humid environment.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to analyze and solve problems as they arise.
- A self-starter and ability to work unsupervised as well as within a team.
- Abide by the conditions of employment to ensure the integrity of the company’s operation.
- Abide by all government and company regulations and standards of performance.
Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Valid Driver's License
