Overview:
A fast-growing EdTech company is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to oversee its accounting and financial operations. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring the financial health of the organization, implementing strong internal controls, and driving process improvements. The Controller will lead the accounting team and collaborate cross-functionally to support the company's rapid growth and innovation in the education technology space.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the month-end close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
- Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including accounts payable, payroll, stock plan administration, and revenue recognition.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations, including SOX requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and quarterly reviews, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
- Develop and oversee accounting processes related to subscription-based revenue models, digital product monetization, and other revenue streams typical of the EdTech sector.
- Manage tax compliance activities, including the annual tax provision, federal and state/local tax filings, and coordination with external advisors.
- Enhance and maintain financial management systems, ensuring they are scalable and support business expansion.
- Lead or participate in special projects such as system implementations, financial process improvements, and due diligence activities for potential partnerships or acquisitions.
- Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership to support business growth and operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Must have a CPA certification required.
- Experience SaaS, or subscription-based business models is highly preferred.
- Prior experience with Big 4 accounting firms is a plus.
- Proficiency with financial software, ERP systems, and accounting tools.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing accounting teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
