The company is a fast-growing HRTech startup aimed at providing a platform to onboard, manage and pay a flexible workforce. Their total freelancer management platform helps companies to manage and pay all hourly, contract and project-based workers.
The Role:
The Head of Payroll reports directly to the VP of Operations and oversees end-to-end payroll operations for 19,000 employees across all US states and Canada. Additionally, the role involves managing billing processes to ensure alignment between payroll operations and client obligations, including invoice generation, reconciliation, and reporting. The role also involves managing a small team and leading the company’s payroll function.
Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage payroll processing for 19,000 NA employees.
Manage a high performing team of Payroll Managers & Payroll Specialists.
Lead the transition to a new payroll vendor.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour regulations.
Maintain payroll and billing documentation for audits, reporting, and internal reviews.
Serve as a trusted advisor on all payroll and billing-related matters, providing insights and guidance to leadership.
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or a related field.
8 years of experience in payroll management.
Expertise in processing payroll across the US.
Strong background in billing processes, including invoice generation and reconciliation.
Proven experience with payroll software such as ADP, Paychex, or similar platforms.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP).
