A Brief Overview
The CardioPulmonary Supervisor is responsible for the day to day management of the cardiopulmonary services. This includes interaction with medical staff, department team members, patients, families and visitors. Services are provided in a hospital and outpatient settings. Responsibilities include hiring, mentoring and overseeing team members, managing resources, ensuring quality patient care and adherence to standards. In addition, this position will work in direct patient care providing treatments, therapies and testing as ordering by a medical provider.
Education Qualifications
- Graduate of a CoARC accrediteted program of Respiratory Therapy is required. Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- 3 years Related experience. Required Supervisory experience. Preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret data. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. (Required proficiency)
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situations. (Required proficiency)
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to critically think and problem solve. (Required proficiency) Skills with database software, E-mail, Word-processing, EPIC and PHS. (Preferred proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
- Respiratory Therapist - KSBHA and the ability to practice in Kansas is required.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist with the National Board for Respiratory Care is required. Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire.
What you will do
- Prepares and maintains staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage to provide clinical services to patients. Plans and coordinates cross training as required for efficient utilization of team members. Interviews and recommends candidates for hire. Plans and coordinates department new hire orientation. Conducts performance appraisals and ensures completion of identified competencies of team members.
- Develops, implements and maintains safety, regulatory and quality standards as definied by but limited to Joint Commission and AASM. Maintains AASM accreditation. Develops and monitors performance improvement initiatives including addressing any problem areas identified.
- Develops, evaluates, interprets and modifies cardiopulmonary policies and procedures.
- Responds to situations involving patients, staff, departments and visitors to provide a resolution.
- Participates in development of department budgets and is accountable to manage to budget. Monitors accuracy of patient charges and assures appropriate charge codes are utilized.
- Performs clinical duties as needed. Consults with other members of healthcare team to help plan and coordinate patient care.
- Identifies and implements corrective action process for staff that are not meeting performance and/or behavior expectations.
- Works with IT to identify and correct issues related to documentation in Electronic Medical Record.
- Acts as a resource for other team members with regards to problem solving, technical questions and patient related situations.
- Evaluates effectiveness of department programs, provides feedback and offers suggestions for improving or revision.
- Demonstrates adaptability through flexibility, negotiation, stress management, versatility, and prioritization.
- Provides report data as requested by management.
- Practices Diversity, Equity and Inclusion principles in daily work by respecting others’ uniqueness, perspectives, backgrounds or beliefs.
- Plan, coordinate and conduct cardiac and pulmonary rehab classes that include patient education and development of safe exercise plans. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic pulmonary and respiratory procedures.
