THE INTERNSHIP
StoryCorps’ Information Systems & Technical Support (IT) department is a small and dedicated team who
work closely with all departments in our organization. The Information Systems & Technical Support intern
will assist Progress, our IT vendor, in basic technical support duties.
The Tech internship offers practical work experience and an introduction to Mac desktop support. This
internship will involve challenging opportunities, real technical projects, and interaction with staff. The
candidate will also get real-world experience in the operations and maintenance in advanced network
infrastructure and state-of-the-art server systems, both cloud and on-premises. This is a great opportunity
to gain hands-on experience in the computer field. This internship provides an opportunity to gain
experience with the technical operations of a mid-sized media nonprofit.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Learn StoryCorps’ recording and photography hardware inside and out
- Create documentation, best-practices manuals, and training materials to be used by StoryCorps
- Conduct long-term research and capacity-building projects for the Recording and Archives
- Special projects based on the department’s needs and intern’s interests
- You are interested in oral history and the compassion that is possible through listening to others
- You’re currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in a degree-granting program
- You have excellent interpersonal and rapport-building skills
- You are able to work both independently and collaboratively
- You have a strong attention to detail; you’re proactive and self-motivated
- You see the big picture, you’re able to problem-solve and multi-task
- Proficiency with computers and a basic level of proficiency in working with new technical
- Experience or interest working with recording equipment and familiarity with basic digital
