Title: Pastor of Discipleship

Reports To: Executive Pastor

Team: Adult Discipleship

Summary: 

The Pastor of Discipleship will be responsible for discipleship alignment across all adult ministries and in accordance with the overall mission, vision, values, and strategies of Storyline. The Pastor of Discipleship will be responsible for Storyline Groups, Bible Studies, the Storyline Institute, Worship Gatherings, Membership, and Care. The Pastor of Discipleship will serve on the Director Team as a visible leader for the rest of the church.

Job Responsibilities:

Lead the Adult Discipleship Staff and Volunteer Teams

• Oversee all Adult Discipleship staff. This includes but is not limited to: leadership development, team meetings, performance reviews, and staffing as needed.
• Mentor ministry staff to empower, encourage, and enable their development and growth in their assigned areas of ministry.
• Supervise, train, and coach direct reports to implement and effectively accomplish the work of the ministry assigned and exemplify Storyline staff values.
  

Oversee Adult Discipleship at Storyline

• Cast vision and implement the holistic adult discipleship vision, scope, and sequence across adult discipleship ministries at Storyline.
• Teach in various spaces on a regular basis: Men’s Bible Study, The Storyline Institute, Seminars, Membership Classes, etc.
• Primary leader to create and implement care processes and care for Storyline members.
• Cast vision and implement member follow-up and proactive discipleship of members.
• Uphold and maintain excellence in all adult discipleship atmospheres.
  

Serve on the Director Team 

• Influence staff culture towards Storyline staff values.
• Coordinate upcoming church-wide projects and communication.
• Anticipate elements of focus and emphasis just ahead.
  

Relationship with Storyline Team:

• I receive input from: Executive Director, Executive Team
• I work with: Adult Discipleship Team, Director Team
• I lead: Adult Discipleship Staff and volunteers

Qualifications:

• Member of Storyline Church
• A daily pursuit of Christian maturity
• Agree with & live in alignment with Storyline Statement of Faith
• Masters degree required
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• At least 5 years of experience on a large church (i.e. 500 plus congregants) staff leading in discipleship
• Pastor/Elder experience required
• Decisive and proven leader with the ability to encourage, empower, and coach other leaders and teams
• Organized, strong delegator and follow-through, ability to cast and execute discipleship vision
• Ability to develop and organize effective ministry teams made up of staff and volunteer leaders
• Ability to create a positive and intentional leadership culture
• Proficiency in GSuite, Microsoft Office, & Planning Center
