The Director of Maintenance is responsible for overseeing all maintenance operations across facilities, ensuring equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This role involves strategic planning, team leadership, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders to maintain high-quality maintenance programs. The Director will oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities, manage budgets, and implement best practices using electronic Computerized Maintenance Management System (eCMMS).
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance programs to enhance asset reliability and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Sr. Director of Project Management, Facilities, and Maintenance to align maintenance initiatives with organizational objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of maintenance managers, supervisors, and technicians.
- Foster a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence within maintenance operations.
- Operations & Maintenance Management
- Oversee the maintenance of production equipment, machinery, and operational assets.
- Ensure the eCMMS system is fully utilized for work order management, preventive maintenance scheduling, and asset tracking.
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards for workplace safety and environmental compliance.
- Manage spare parts inventory, procurement processes, and vendor relationships to ensure timely and cost-effective maintenance solutions.
- Budget & Resource Management
- Develop and manage the maintenance department’s annual budget, optimizing costs while maintaining operational efficiency.
- Oversee procurement of maintenance supplies, equipment, and service contracts, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and sustainability initiatives within maintenance operations.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with Operations, project management, and facilities teams to support capital projects and equipment installations.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure high-quality maintenance services.
- Effectively communicate maintenance priorities and strategies with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years in maintenance management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of industrial equipment, production machinery, and maintenance best practices.
- Experience managing budgets, maintenance teams, and vendor relationships.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, compliance requirements, and reliability-centered maintenance.
- Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems.
