A switchgear manufacturer is a leading provider of relay and control panels and is currently establishing a power distribution product line in North Houston. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality, reliable, and efficient electrical solutions to our customers. We are seeking a highly experienced Quality Control Manager to lead and enhance our quality assurance processes.
Job Summary:
The Quality Control Manager will be responsible for overseeing the quality assurance and control processes for power distribution products, with a focus on low and medium voltage switchgear (up to 38kV). This role requires expertise in creating and implementing quality control processes, establishing key performance indicators (KPIs), leading test teams, and applying 5S methodologies to improve efficiency and maintain industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement quality control strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
- Oversee inspection, testing, and validation processes for low and medium voltage switchgear products.
- Establish and monitor KPIs to measure quality performance, drive improvements, and ensure product reliability.
- Lead and manage the quality control and testing teams, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations.
- Implement and sustain 5S methodology to maintain an organized and efficient work environment.
- Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Investigate and address customer complaints, non-conformities, and root causes of defects through corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ANSI, IEEE, and other relevant industry standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall product quality and reduce defects.
- Maintain and update documentation related to quality control, inspections, and audits.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience in Electrical Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in quality control management within the power distribution industry, specifically with low and medium voltage switchgear (up to 38kV).
- Proven experience in developing and implementing quality control processes and KPIs.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing test teams and driving team performance.
- Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations such as ISO 9001, IEEE, ANSI, and IEC.
- Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies such as Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Experience with quality management software and reporting tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with 5S methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) is a plus.
- Experience working with SCADA, protection relays, and automation systems related to switchgear.
- Familiarity with SAP, ERP, or other quality tracking systems.
Salary : $100,000 - $135,000
