What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, Work-Based Learning position at Strada Education Network?
Strada’s Work-Based Learning (WBL) team is responsible for advancing a vision that all learners have access to work-based learning experiences, including paid internships and apprenticeships, that help connect their education to their career aspirations. The WBL team sits within Strada’s postsecondary education strategy and programming. This dynamic and collaborative team has a focus on building partnerships with postsecondary education institutions, employers and employer-facing intermediaries, and other national organizations and foundations working to drive systems-level change that will improve access to quality work-based learning, especially for those individuals who have faced the greatest barriers.
The Director is a full-time position within Strada’s Work-Based learning pillar on Strada’s Postsecondary Education team. The Director will support the development of initiatives and provide project management and chief of staff-oriented support to the work-based learning team. The Director may also provide significant support to an initiative, or a similar, high-impact project. The Director also provides grantmaking support and other project management support for Strada’s executive stakeholder leader(s) and their teams.
This role requires a collaborative leader with relevant subject matter expertise, experience with similar strategic initiatives, and a track record of building relationships of trust with peer funders, grantees, educational institutions, major employers, policymakers, or similar field leaders relevant to Strada’s mission. Outstanding people, communications, and leadership skills are required.

We will do this through a stakeholder-driven strategy that supports state and institutional leaders, employers, and intermediaries in implementing work-based learning, and through research that elevates and advocates for the highest quality, most accessible work-based learning models.

The pay range listed is based on national compensation benchmark data and may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, variations in cost of labor, and in some cases, geographic location. The exact job offer will be determined based on several factors such as the candidate’s individual skills, qualifications and experience relative to the requirements of the role. The range displayed with the job posting represents the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across the U.S.
The organization also reviews and considers internal equity (current employee salary) when hiring new employees to the organization. The range is the expected starting base salary for someone hired into this position with room to grow professionally, including increased earning potential beyond the starting pay range. Beyond a new hire’s base salary, Strada also offers all full-time employees a comprehensive employee benefit package.

Travel Requirements :
The Director will provide leadership and represent Strada in varied settings across the country. It is likely the role will naturally entail some travel for conferences and other meetings. While there is no minimum envisioned, the Director can expect to spend approximately 10-15% of their time away from home on business travel. The amount of travel may vary based on the location of the employee, conference schedules, and the time of year.
Typical Physical & Mental Demands :
Requires prolonged sitting with some bending, stooping and stretching; eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Also requires moderate to intense concentration due to complexity and / or need to meet deadlines, and flexibility to readily adapt to a changing environment.
