Process Coordinator

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree and a valid Missouri Teaching certificate in at least one area of Special Education according to certification requirements as set forth by Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education or related area and knowledge of special education process requirements.

Summary

The Special Education Process Coordinator  will be responsible for supervision of the special education process from referral, appropriate identification,  provision of services, IEP development, and placement to insure appropriate identification and placement of students with disabilities and district compliance with state and federal requirements for implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Act, (IDEA) in accordance with district policies and procedures. The Process Coordinator should possess good people skills, flexibility, the ability to work under pressure and stay on task, responsible, reliable, a self-starter, and have the ability to adjust to change. The process coordinator will also assist the Director of Special Services in implementing other special services programs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure the implementation of a Free and Appropriate Public Education. 
  2. Supervise the special education and 504 process of referral, evaluation, appropriate identification, placement and provision of services. 
  3. Ensure compliant documentation for the special education program. Ensure district compliance with local, state and federal requirements for special education.Assures special education process complies with IDEA, State Compliance Manual, Standards Manual, and the District Special Education Compliance Plan in the building(s) assigned. 
  4. Assures the screening process is complete and that timelines meet with compliance. 
  5. Reviews transfer IEP’s and complete acceptance paperwork. 
  6. Maintains compliance and training for Section 504 matters.
  7. Establish and maintain effective communication with all staff members and outside agencies as related to students’ programming. 
  8. Works with principals, department heads and other team members to facilitate the integration of all students into as many classes as possible.  
  9. Performs and monitors evaluation and timelines to ensure appropriate student placement and programming.
  10. Assists in the preparation of federal, state and local reports on special education. 
  11. Assist the Director with researching and/or implementing new program components. 
  12. Serves as local education agency representative for IEP meetings in assigned buildings. 
  13. Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Special Services.
  14. Follows the policies and procedures of the school district including the district Special Educational Compliance Plan.

  1. Ability to write reports and correspondence consistent with the duties of this position. 
  2. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback. 
  3. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret evaluations, data, psychoeducational assessments, and information.
  4. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions, inquiries, and/or complaints.
