Strange Delight is a Nola-inspired oyster bar set to open in the vibrant neighborhood of Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Our goals are not just about serving responsibly sourced seafood in new and novel ways but also about sustaining and supporting our community, our vendors, and our team to the best of our ability. We aim to create a space that is, simply put, fun and different from our peers.Location:We are conveniently located in Fort Greene on Lafayette Ave, just steps away from the 2,3,4,5,N,Q,R,W,B,D,G,C trains and plenty of other public transportation options.
We are seeking an upbeat, friendly, and experienced Host to join our team at Strange Delight. For this role, you should have solid organizational and people skills, a professional demeanor, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. The ideal candidate should have at least 1 year of experience, can multitask well, and has excellent listening and communication skills. You will be interacting with dining room guests and fellow employees throughout the entirety of your shift.
Rate of Pay: $19/hr
General Hours: Wed-Sun 4:00pm-12:00am
Some Responsibilitie Include:
- Greeting guests upon arrival
- Escort guests to their tables and provide them with menus
- Provide servers with guest chit (allergies, occasions, # of visits, etc)
- Providing guests with information about the venue, events, services
- Maintaining a neat and organized work station, keeping menus clean and organized
- Must be able to stand for 6-8 hrs
- Monitoring guest flow, coordinating with other staff members to ensure smooth operations
- Managing floor plan, ensuring efficient use of tables, monitoring seat times for accurate wait quotes, managing reservations
- Must have prior experience with Resy or OpenTable
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Alerting management to any issues, occasions, special requests
Physical Requirements
- The capability to meet the physical and scheduling demand of the position, including walking, standing, or lifting heavy items for extended periods, and working nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift or carry items weighing 10-30 pounds on a regular or occasional basis.
- Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the property. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
- Climbing steps regularly.
