Position Summary: Strata G is seeking to fill a position of a Sr Mechanical Engineer in the Huntsville area. The position requires understanding and application of technical expertise in the mechanical engineering field with knowledge of other related disciplines. Engineering responsibilities will include developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems related to the design, integration and test of various mechanical/electrical sub-systems associated with rotorary/fixed wing and unmanned aircraft. Candidate must be able to function in a lead analytical role of a design team and will work without any appreciable direction or supervision while exercising considerable latitude in determining the technical objectives of the assignment. Position will require the ability to interact effectively with team members, customers, support personnel and senior management on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
Qualifications Required:
- Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD modeling
- Proficiency with SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS analysis software
- Proficiency in analysis of composite materials including honeycomb panels and composite layups (i.e. fiberglass, Kevlar, carbon fiber, etc)
- Experience with tolerance analysis and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
- Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Must currently have or be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
- Ability to work independently, flexible, demonstrates initiative
- Good communicator across multiple mediums
Qualifications Desired:
- Proven understanding of fabrication methods used in aerospace
- Experience with thermal and fluid analyses
- Experience with the Army Airworthiness process
- Aviation related experience
Minimum Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace preferable)
- A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in mechanical design/analysis
- A minimum of 5 years of UAV design related experience.
