Overview
Strata-G Solutions, LLC is looking for a Tool Maker to join our team in Huntsville, AL. Tool Making is a process whereby two-part silicones are mixed proportionately and poured into a mold box over a master pattern. Molds are often very complex and require multiple components for challenging geometries. The purpose of the resulting tool is to repeatedly produce parts of the exact geometry of the master pattern in desired materials. There is an art to planning parting lines and creating the parting features in malleable modeling clay. Repeatable success in tool making requires adequate, on the job training to attain an acceptable level of competency. Employees will be required to work as an apprentice under a Senior Tool Maker. It will be the discretion of the Senior Tool Maker to determine when, and if, an employee has reached as experience and skill level to be allowed to work without continuous supervision. Supervision can only be waived if job applicant has prior experience in tool making, has passed an interview process and demonstrated abilities in the Strata-G tool making lab. Responsibilities
- Ability to operate digital scales
- Ability to comprehend mix ratios
- Good with hands and fine detailing
- Good understanding of draft angles and their importance to tooling
- Recognition of complex geometry
- Mechanically minded, experience a plus
- Skilled in the use of X-Acto style knives
- Ability to operate milling machine and lathe a plus
- Ability to schedule jobs and communicate status
- Ability to manage time and work to demanding schedules
- Ability to monitor material supplies and notify when material purchases are necessary
- Ability to retain knowledge gained from working with others
- Ability to communicate suggestions for improvement in a team environment
- Safety conscious and work safely around others
- This individual has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks

- Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills are required

Education and Experience
- A High School Diploma or (GED equivalent) is required
