Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Journeyman Structural Engineer with experience in telecommunication infrastructure installation, cabling systems, and related underground installations. The ideal candidate will have the ability to interpret blueprints and specifications, perform project layout and planning, and manage jobsite coordination. The candidate must be comfortable working in challenging environments, including substantial heights and varying weather conditions, while adhering to industry standards and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Layout and Planning:
- Read and interpret blueprints and project specifications.
- Coordinate jobsite layout, including telecommunication cabling systems.
- Underground Installations:
- Trench and dig ditches for underground cabling installation.
- Install telecommunication grounding systems via direct burial methods.
- Cable Routing:
- Install, fasten, and support telecommunication cables.
- Use protective sleeves and nipples for cable routing.
- Entry-level experience in cabling installation and maintenance is a plus.
- Testing, Certifying, and Troubleshooting LAN Systems:
- Perform system checks for circuit continuity and identify faults.
- Certify system operation, repair systems, and verify grounding.
- Basic knowledge of low-voltage cabling systems and industry standards required.
- Installing Communication and Sound Systems:
- Interpret blueprints and layouts to install telecommunication panels and network devices.
- Install circuits, perform terminations, and conduct testing.
- Installing and Networking Telecommunication Wires & Cables:
- Install and network cabling between buildings on small and large campus systems.
- Install backbones, horizontals, cross-connects, and interconnects.
- Comfortable working at heights for cabling installations.
- Test and certify installation work.
- Wire and Cable Termination:
- Terminate a variety of cables, including bundled, shielded, unshielded, optical fiber, twisted pair, and coaxial cables.
- Wire and Cable Splicing:
- Splice optical fiber, shielded/unshielded twisted pair, and coaxial cables.
- Service and Troubleshooting:
- Test, analyze, and repair voice, video, and data installations.
- Repair LAN circuits, electronic devices, and telecommunication devices.
- Material Handling and Pre-Fabrication:
- Handle materials and equipment required for installations.
- Fabricate materials for field installation.
Qualifications:
High School with 3 years (or commensurate experience)
Required Skills and Experience
Clearance: Secret
Must have a valid US Passport and be prepared for international travel up to 40% at customer locations in Eastern Europe, Africa, and South America.
Minimum requirement: BICSI Installer 1 certification.
· Skills:
o Strong understanding of signal transmission for data, voice, and video.
o Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, including blueprints and technical drawings.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
o Strong analytical skills to evaluate data and resolve system issues.
o Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
· Physical Requirements:
o Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms at substantial heights.
o Frequently stand, bend, kneel, and work in physically demanding positions.
o Must lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across rough terrain.
o Will work in noisy, dirty, and unheated/uncooled environments with limited sanitary facilities.
· Work Environment:
o Ability to work in adverse weather conditions on dynamic worksites.
o Must maintain safety standards and adhere to all workplace safety regulations.
START DATE: October 1st
***Job Requires 45 days of travelling around March timeframe to Eastern Europe***
***Job will be remote for 2-3 days a week initially and then it will be more days in office as the system gets built***
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $155,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
