ICS Network Architect – Utility

Duration: 12 Months Contract
Job Summary:
The ICS Network Architect will design, implement, and secure Industrial Control System (ICS) networks for utility operations. This position requires developing robust network architectures that enhance reliability, security, and compliance of Operational Technology (OT) systems. The architect will focus on adhering to industry standards such as NERC CIP, IEC 62443, and best practices for critical infrastructure protection. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with IT and OT teams to assess and mitigate cybersecurity risks while optimizing network performance and resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and optimize ICS/OT network architectures to ensure reliable and secure utility operations.
- Develop and implement network segmentation, firewalls, and secure remote access solutions.
- Ensure compliance with NERC CIP and other relevant cybersecurity regulations.
- Perform cybersecurity risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies within ICS environments.
- Collaborate with IT and OT teams to enhance network resilience and security posture.
- Conduct network monitoring and utilize tools like VPNs, IDS/IPS, and firewalls to protect critical infrastructure.
- Stay current with industry standards and implement best practices for critical infrastructure cybersecurity.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to network architecture, configurations, and security practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in ICS/OT network design and security.
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850.
- Proficiency with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and network monitoring tools.
- Expertise in network segmentation and implementing secure remote access solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks like NERC CIP and ISA/IEC 62443.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on critical infrastructure protection.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
