What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Coach position at Strategic Therapy Associates Inc?
Strategic Therapy Associates is seeking a Family Coach to work with at-risk youth and families. Family Coaches help youth and their families engage in community activities, develop a greater capacity for emotional expression, and engage in positive social interactions. Family Coaches work with children to help minimize the behaviors that are placing them at risk, including providing psycho-social education, teaching coping techniques, crisis de-escalation, anger management, role modeling, and encouraging positive behavior. Family Coaches must hold a valid Driver's License, have their own vehicle, and have a satisfactory driving record. Family coaches must be available to work afternoon and evening hours.
**Preference is given to those candidates currently enrolled in or who have completed a Bachelor's degree in the human services field (Social work, Psychology, Counseling etc.)**

Position Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one life-skills training, coaching, and support to clients helping them build awareness
- Explain societal norms, rules, and options and aid in exploring options
- Motivate clients while encouraging, guiding, and steering them toward positive changes
- Set a positive example for the client
- Engage with clients in a positive, professional, and respectful manner during the duration of the session
- Complete all documentation related to client progress daily, accurately, on time, and according to all standards and requirements
- Strong team player with the ability to correspond with other team members to give updates on client's progress
- Provide safe transportation of clients to-and-from programs or community outings
- Maintain clean and operable vehicles
- Be flexible, open-minded and willing, and able to adjust to last-minute changes
Required Education and Qualification:
- Prefer candidates currently enrolled in or who have completed a Bachelor's degree program in the human services field (Social work, Psychology, Counseling, ect.)
- Must have valid Driver's License, own vehicle, good driving record & willingness to transport youth within the community
- Ability to pass a background check and TB screen
- Preferably some experience working with at-risk children and/or adolescents
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage difficult clients
- Ability to restrain escalated clients as needed (training provided)
- Self-starter with good organizational and time management skills
- Team player
