Position Scope and Organizational Impact
The Corporate Controller will oversee and lead the accounting function and financial reporting for Straticon, supporting the company’s continued growth and operational efficiency. This position involves strategic oversight of the accounting team, leadership in talent development, and maintaining strong control systems aligned with corporate goals.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee and lead all corporate accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely monthly closings, financial reporting, and management reporting using the integrated CMiC business system.
- Direct the preparation and analysis of forecasts, Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports, and other income and expense reports.
- Review contracts, oversee project setup and billing processes, and participate in client meetings as needed.
- Lead the development and mentorship of a high-performing accounting team, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. Collaborate with Human Resources to recruit, develop, and retain top talent.
- Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute financial strategies that align with corporate goals and ensure financial success.
- Recommend and implement updates to internal control procedures to support scalability and mitigate risk.
- Facilitate and consolidate the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting cycles.
- Prepare detailed financial reports summarizing and forecasting company performance, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Collaborate with treasury to manage cash flow, collections, and payments effectively.
- Identify and recommend process and systems improvements to enhance efficiency and financial accuracy across the organization.
- Support annual external audits and oversee year-end financial reporting requirements.
- Supervise and approve complex journal entries, ensuring their accurate impact on financial statements.
- Drive key financial initiatives and special projects as assigned by senior leadership.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of job cost and revenue recognition accounting for the construction industry.
- Hands-on experience with CMiC integrated accounting software is required.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly growing organization.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced analytical and presentation skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Experience in recruiting, mentoring, and managing high-performing teams.
- Experience in project accounting within construction is a plus.
