Job Summary
Project Accountants are financials specialists who are responsible for ensuring projects adhere to all company financial policies and procedures. Project Accountants monitor the progress of projects, investigates variances, manages project workflows, track costs, ensures all pay applications are issued to customers, and ensure all payments collected. Project Accountants also are responsible for curating project budgets, communicating with Project Managers and customers, as well as directing Accounting Coordinators and ensuring all billing deadlines are met.
Management Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all aspects of accounting on projects
- Ensure that Accounting Coordinators are trained and skilled
- Ensure that projects adhere to company policies and procedures
- Maintain, review, and approve the project budgets
- Assist in hiring, training, and developing Accounting Coordinators
- Discuss concerns and potential problems with Project Controller to ensure projects stay on budget and on time
- Direct Accounting Coordinators to make sure administrative tasks are being performed in an accurate and timely manner
- Ensure all project accounting deadlines are meant
- All requests for payments submitted through collaborator portal by the 15th of every month
- All requests for payments posted in CMiC by the 18th of every month
- All monthly pay applications executed, sent to ownership, and posted in CMiC by the 25th of every month
Position Responsibilities
- Work closely with project team to ensure projects are on budget
- Monitor the progress of a project to ensure the project is working within the confines of deadlines and budgets
- Ensure that all accounting information, data, and documentation is recorded in CMiC
- Owner communications including revisions, requests for documentation, etc
- All communications between subcontractors, vendors, or customers
- All changes, approvals, etc. (internal or external) must be documents in CMiC
- Ensure that all projects follow all Straticon policies and procedures
- Work with project team to control costs and maintain efficient accounting operations for each project
- Monitor and post change orders ensuring they are within project budget of the contract for their specific job and cost code
- Assist in job setup, budget modifications, and project closeout
- Prepare custom pay requisitions as requested by ownership
- Execute pay applications via CMIC communication to owners on or before the 25th of every month including all required billing documents
- Ensure that pay applications have corresponding and accurate job billing backup
- Ensure that all pay applications are submitted to ownership with correct backup and accounting
- Complete project billing revisions at the request of project ownership
- Compile information for internal and external auditors
- Audit projects monthly to ensure costs align with billings (report any discrepancies to Project Controller)
- Submit job costing, job billing, and aging reports to Project Controller monthly
- Investigate all project expenses not billed to customers
- Report to management potential profitability changes on a project
- Assist Project Controller on project related tasks as needed
