My client is a U.S. based recycling company committed to advancing the North American battery lifecycle value chain through innovative solutions. They are developing a network of lithium-ion battery recycling facilities, producing ethically sourced cobalt, nickel, lithium, and other critical materials as part of a closed-loop solution for battery manufacturers.


As they expand internationally and commercialize their state-of-the-art technology, they are seeking a talented and motivated Business Development Manager to join their growing team.


Job Summary:

A leading company in the battery materials and recycling sector is seeking a dynamic Commercial & BD Manager to support its growth strategy. This role is critical in identifying feedstock opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and driving product sales. The successful candidate will oversee key relationships, negotiate transactions, and expand market presence. Partnering closely with the Director of Business Development, the Commercial & BD Manager will execute commercial initiatives that contribute to business growth and long-term sustainability.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Business Development to implement commercial strategies aimed at acquiring feedstock and selling products.
  • Identify, qualify and convert leads into business opportunities, ensuring a strong pipeline for feedstock procurement and product sales.
  • Build and maintain relationships with OEMs, recyclers, collectors, suppliers and key industry partners to drive business growth.
  • Conduct market research and track industry trends, metal pricing and competitor activities to inform commercial strategy and optimize pricing.
  • Negotiate and execute pricing, terms, and contracts for feedstock supply and offtake, ensuring profitability and long-term partnerships.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, networking events and panel discussions to enhance brand positioning and generate business opportunities.
  • Oversee contract negotiations and execution, ensuring compliance, seamless fulfilment and issue resolution in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Manage RFQ processes, audits, material transfers and contract finalization while ensuring efficient material movement and invoicing.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • A commercially focused professional with a strong track record of building and managing partnerships.
  • A self-starter with excellent communication and relationship management skills who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Team player with the ability to deliver high-quality output in a dynamic operational setting.
  • Proactive mindset with an "owner's approach," requiring minimal direct supervision.
  • University degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field.
  • Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Desired Experience:

  • Strong expertise in lithium-ion battery recycling, black mass and supply chain management.
  • In-depth knowledge of metal markets, commodity trading and pricing strategies, with experience in global benchmarks (LME, Fastmarkets, S&P Global, Argus).
  • Proven ability to negotiate feedstock supply, tolling and offtake agreements while managing risk and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in B2B sales, industrial materials and lead generation with a track record of building long-term partnerships.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools, data-driven sales strategies and pipeline management.
  • Ability to structure and execute complex contracts, ensuring alignment with operational needs and profitability goals.
