JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Manufacturing Quality Technician will safely support the Operations Value Streams through structured problem solving, sample inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives. Complies with all safety rules and guidelines while observing the use of all prescribed safety equipment.
Essential Job Function
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conduct sample inspection of in-process and finished goods according to quality and safety standards. Report results as required. Provide immediate feedback to manufacturing line to contain and eliminate root causes of findings per requirements. • Perform daily standard work checks in zone with highest defect escapes from previous day. Identify opportunities for improvement in high-risk zones. Document and track improvements to completion. Track completed improvements for 3 months to confirm effectiveness. • Support ME and MQ Engineers/Techs to solve FPY, DSI, and downtime issues in assembly and finished goods using structured problem solving. Identify poke – yoke methods to help eliminate defects. Read across to other areas as applicable. Train/coach manufacturing team members, where applicable. • Participate in problem solving with manufacturing team members to eliminate manufacturing defects found at the customer. • Maintains safe and productive work environment by assuring the work area is clear of tools, brooms, debris, and other items that may present a hazard. • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned. • Must be able to work overtime, as necessary.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: •Associates degree in relevant field or comparable work experience.•American Society of Quality (ASQ) certification or other preferred. Experience:• 2-4 years of Quality experience in a manufacturing environment.• Familiarity and understanding of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 Quality Management Systems.•Understanding of Lean Principles, Six Sigma, and other problem-solving methods and tools. Skills: • Strong computer skills, analytical skills, people skills, relevant technical skills, strong listening skills, and strong written and verbal communication.• Attendance and punctuality serve as a model for others.• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.• Must be proficient in English.• Customer focused• Open mindset• Process oriented• Continuous Improvement using structured problem solving• Evidence based decision making using data analysis• Team player / Works well with others• Mechanical / Hands-on approach Physical Requirments: •Work requires periodic stooping/bending and frequent walking/standing throughout the day.•Requires occasional lifting of objects less than 25 pounds as well as occasional lifting of objects 25 to 50 pounds.•Work involves activities that require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, or vehicles.•Requires use of personal protective equipment.•Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
