What are the responsibilities and job description for the Log Buyer position at Stratton Lumber Inc?
Join our growing team!! Responsible for purchasing spruce/fir logs for the needs of Stratton Lumber, Moose River Lumber and Fontaine Inc sawmills both direct to the mills, roadside and into TRG’s Maine log concentration yards with an emphasis on Quality Control, Check Scales.
This position focuses on regular in-woods site visits to our major suppliers to mill yards and log yards, to assist in quality control, with occasional travel to southern Quebec, also.
Maintain and develop relationships with the current 100 local log suppliers for the Stratton Lumber and Moose River Lumber sawmills.
· Full-time, Year-Round, Exempt

Essential Requirements:
· Maine Wood Scaler license required; or the ability to obtain the license upon successful hiring.
· Experience in the timber industry required, preferably in wood procurement
· Forestry degree preferred
· Ability to operate Hood Log Loader or similar equipment on an occasional basis.
· Ability to operate an Allegro handheld computer for entering supplier information and log species, grade and scale information.
· Prior procurement experience helpful.
· Adheres to TRG’s safety policies and procedures at all times.
· Ability to work outdoors in all conditions; bend, reach, drive for long periods, stand for long periods.
· Ability to travel into Canada.
