Staff Geologist
Stratus Engineering Associates LLC (Stratus) has a full-time opening for a Staff Geologist in our Cameron Park office. Stratus is a full-service environmental engineering and consulting firm founded in 2018. We are located in the Foothills of California, between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform field explorations, analyze field conditions, and generate field reports for assigned geological projects.
· Provide support to senior technical staff and senior project managers for assessment, investigation and remediation projects.
· Collect soil, soil gas and water samples and ship them to laboratory for analysis.
· Operate geological/hydrogeological equipment effectively for data collection and analysis.
· Coordinate, manage, permit, and perform field work for drilling, soil and groundwater sampling, well gauging, and soil logging.
· Maintain documentations of all geological related analysis.
· Assess geological risks and challenges and provide appropriate action plans.
· Participate in peer reviews and provide feedback for improvements.
· Communicate field inspection results along with recommendations to senior management.
· Work closely with field crews in planning, coordinating and executing projects to ensure timely completions.
· Work in compliance with company policies and procedures.
Requirements and Qualifications
· 0-2 years of experience (2-5 years preferred)
· Bachelor’s Degree in Geology
· Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to perform field work, as needed, within a wide range of physical activities
· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
· Highly organized multitasker and detail oriented
· Willingness to learn and to grow with the company
· 40-hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) certificate and/or 8-hour refresher certificate a plus
